Exploration Through Play

Although the Virginia Discovery Museum remains closed for general admission due to the COVID-19 pandemic, starting in May 2021, our fully vaccinated staff is excited to open our doors for the first time since March 2020 for prescheduled, in-person Small Group Visits for up to 25 people. The Museum follows a free-flowing, single-floor layout comprised of two main galleries and maintains 15 hands-on educational play areas over 6,000 square feet of exhibit space. Each exhibit is designed to engage children cognitively, physically, and socially, and our staff seeks to foster an environment in which children learn through exploratory and imaginative play and collaborative problem-solving. Please note that Amazing Airways, Flight Lab, and Creation Station are currently closed for Small Group Visits.
