What Is Baby Buds?

Although the Virginia Discovery Museum is currently closed for regular drop-in visits in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are excited to offer limited-capacity, in-person programs throughout the summer. Baby Buds is a new-parent / new-caregiver meetup and open-exploration playtime for newborns, infants, and toddlers that encourages physical growth, social-emotional development, and emerging language skills. Participants – some for the very first time – will have the opportunity to explore the Museum, including our Sensory Studio, and engage with sensory stations and activities that focus on tactile stimulation, sound, light, and art. Please note that VDM’s Amazing Airways, Flight Lab, and Creation Station areas are currently closed. Check out our Exhibits page to see what areas will be available during the program.

Baby Buds on July 30 is Full. To Pre-Register for Aug. 23:
  1. Contact Us: Call (434) 977-1025 x102 or email operationsdirector@vadm.org by noon Aug. 20 to submit your registration request. Spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are only reserved once you receive a confirmation email.
  2. Pre-Pay Admission: Normal admission is $8 per person, adults and children, and children under 1 are admitted free. Active memberships do apply, as do the Museum’s Sponsored Admission Program and discounts for Blue Star Museums military families and ASTC and ACM members.

Upon arrival at the Museum on the program date, visitors must present their emailed confirmation and membership or other eligible discount card and finalize any outstanding admission payments. All adults must sign a waiver before entering the Museum, and all guests over the age of 2 must wear a mask while inside the building.
