Volunteer at VDM This Winter
Museum offers many ways for teens and adults alike to get involved, give back

Looking for a way to give back to the Charlottesville-Albemarle community this holiday season? There are many ways for enthusiastic teens and adults alike to get involved at the Virginia Discovery Museum and help enrich the lives of children in our region through hands-on play and experiential learning.
Due to the small size of the Museum’s permanent staff, volunteers play an invaluable role in helping VDM fulfill its mission through their time and talents. From interacting with visitors and making their experiences fun and memorable to keeping exhibit spaces clean and safe to assisting with educational programs and community events, volunteers are vital to creating a Museum that is engaging and accessible to all. Last year, more than 300 volunteers, from 15 to 85 years old, contributed more than 3,700 hours to the Museum and VDM events!

The Virginia Discovery Museum is featured in the article "Do Good: 17 Ways to Get in a Spirit of Giving," in C-VILLE Weekly’s winter issue of Village. The article specifically highlights the different ways teens can volunteer at VDM during the upcoming holidays — including at our Santa Pancake Breakfast, Holiday Houses, and Ornament Extravaganza programs in December — and year round. Pick up a free copy of the magazine at the Museum, or read the full article online at c-ville.com.
