STEAM Series

< Back to Programs

As VDM remains closed for general admission due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our staff has transitioned our multi-week STEAM Series to a virtual format. Join Miss Frankie after school on Friday afternoons over the course of three to five weeks as we explore some of her favorite STEAM subjects in greater detail. Series are designed to help children 4 and older cultivate new interests in the sciences and arts and become strong, creative thinkers through experiential learning projects and challenges while providing an outlet to interact with other kids in a safe, monitored online setting. Plus, participants will receive a new pre-packaged activity kit with all necessary materials each week of the program, with both contactless pickup and FREE delivery available.

Winter Traditions Around the World

Fridays (Dec. 4-18)  |  3:00-4:00 p.m.  |  Deadline: Dec. 1

How do you celebrate the winter holiday season? Just like you, people around the world observe their own special traditions during this time of year. Join Miss Frankie on a virtual globetrotting journey to see how children from different countries and cultures – and even a few spots here in the U.S. – spend the season in unique ways! Meet the Tió de Nadal in the Catalonia region of Spain; check out the “ursul,” or bear dance, in Romania; keep an eye out for the Yule Cat in Iceland; experience a slice of Mexico with Oaxaca’s Night of the Radishes; and more as we explore winter traditions around the world through hands-on STEM activities and crafts.
