Things to Explore
  • Manipulatives: Practice and reinforce letter sounds, spelling, word recognition, and more with various blocks, association cards, and games.
  • Magnet Board: Play with letters and sounds, identify vowels and consonants, and make words.
  • Temporarily Removed: iPads have been removed temporarily due to COVID.

Curl up with a good book in the quiet, cozy Literacy Lounge, sponsored by WHTJ PBS Kids! Children’s early exposure to language varies widely, and some children have heard as many as 30 million fewer words than others by age 3, which affects vocabulary as well as general social and cognitive development. Read a story, discuss new words and practice them in conversation, and share thoughts and ideas about the books you’ve read.
