Description
Take a trip around the world! Experience four hands-on engineering and math activities and games inspired by cultures and figures from around the globe. Explore Egypt to learn Senet, an ancient two-person board game played for thousands of years, including by king Tutankhamun; move over to Malawi to construct a windmill that raises a bucket as you learn about William Kamkwamba, an inventor who built his own wind turbine to help provide electricity for his village; swing by the Solomon Islands to build and float a boat inspired by the Tepukei, a unique sailing vessel used for thousands of years; and wrap up your expedition in England to decode a secret message as you learn about Alan Turing, one of the world’s most famous cryptanalysts.
Note: This kit includes a small sampling of activities from our Adventures Around the World virtual camp. If your child is registered for that camp, we suggest waiting for a later kit.
