Supplies
  • Scrap Paper
  • Marker
  • Empty Trash Can / Bucket

Unsurprisingly, making learning fun increases information retention. Have fun with letter recognition by combining it with basketball!

Setup:
  1. Write letters of the alphabet on pieces of scrap paper.
  2. Lay the letters out on the floor.
  3. Repeat the appropriate steps below for all of the letters.
  4. Once you’ve used all the letters, uncrumple them to play again!
Age Adjustments:
  • Younger Children:
    • Ask your child to find a letter.
    • When they find the correct one, they get to crumple it up and shoot it into the trash can.
  • Older Children:
    • Tell your child a word and ask them to identify the letter with which it starts or ends.
    • When they find the correct one, they get to crumple it up and shoot it into the trash can.
