This log cabin was built by the Showalter Family in the 1700s in Rockingham County, Virginia, and then installed in VDM in 1990. Then, in 2012, the Hatch Family sponsored a renovation of the Virginia Heritage Area, which included a new garden, animals, food, and clothing.
Visitors can discover how life was different in Virginia in the 18th century as they don period clothing while preparing a meal harvested from the vegetable garden and chicken coop. Then, the family can relax as they enjoy a variety of games such as checkers, dominoes, and skittles on the cabin porch. All this, before turning in for the night an cozying up with their favorite animal in the rope bed or up in the cabin loft.
