Watch your child develop his or her own unique voice as we craft our own poems to take home each week! We’ll tap into our creativity, stretch our imaginations, play with words, and learn about language using a variety of prompts and styles.

Poet of the Month: Robert Frost (March 26, 1874 – Jan. 29, 1963)

  • Jan. 3: Season’s Poetry
    We’ll explore the many ways winter makes its appearance in the New Year
  • Jan. 10: Sparkling Diamante
    The diamante, in both form and function, displays as a winter crystal.
  • Jan. 17: Snowman Poetry
    A poetic form that builds on itself, first asking questions, then answering them.
  • Jan. 24: Haiku
    A look at the season through the fleeting nature of the haiku.
  • Jan. 31: Poet’s Prerogative
    Let your creative conscious flow, picking any poetic pattern to pursue your pleasure.
February Schedule

Poet of the Month: Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (Feb. 27, 1807 – March 24, 1882)

  • Feb. 7: Couplets
    Grab a couple of rhyming words. Write a couple of lines. Ah ha! Poetic verse!
  • Feb. 14: Conversation Hearts
    We’ll use these sweet slogans as poetry prompts, conversation connotations, and indelible inspiration.
  • Feb. 21: Bio Poetry
    In honor of President’s Day, we’ll take some time to write about some very special people in a very special form.
  • Feb. 28: Poet’s Prerogative
